How CarePlus supports Medicare Advantage Plan members during disasters

Your safety and well-being are a top priority for all of us at CarePlus. We have taken these steps to help our affected members get the medical care they need in declared disaster areas:

  • Covering Medicare Parts A and B services and Part C plan benefits at non-network hospitals and other medical facilities
  • Waving all requirements for primary care physician referrals and prior authorizations for members, where applicable
  • Offering the same cost sharing as an in-network facility even if receiving care outside the network
  • Suspending restrictions on refills to allow for travel difficulties and evacuations for members with a pharmacy benefit

All of the above changes become effective immediately after the declaration of a disaster or a public health emergency and will remain in effect for the duration of the declared period and 30 days thereafter.

If CarePlus is also affected by the disaster and cannot resume normal operations by the end of the public health emergency or state of disaster, we will notify the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and will update the CarePlus website, when and if we are able, to provide information about CarePlus operational capabilities.
