Medicare Savings Programs

These state programs are for people who have limited income and resources. If you meet certain requirements, they may  help pay for all or part of your Medicare Parts A (hospital) and B (medical) premiums, deductibles, coinsurance and copayments.

Low-Income Subsidy (LIS), also known as Extra help

If you qualify, this program may help pay for Medicare Part D prescription drug costs such as your premium, deductible, coinsurance and copayments.

Eligible people may receive different amounts of Extra Help. It depends on your income compared to the Federal Poverty Level and resource limitations set by the Social Security Act.

This program includes medical, social and long-term care services in certain states. For Florida eligibility, contact the Department of Elder Affairs

Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits

SSI benefits help people who are disabled, blind or 65 and older that have limited income and resources. SSI is not the same as Social Security benefits. For more information, visit the Supplemental Security Income webpage on the Social Security Administration website.
