CareEssentials Allowance
If your plan includes this benefit, you will receive a pre-paid CarePlus Spending Account Card. Funds can be used for over-the-counter (OTC) products at participating retailers. If you qualify, you may also be able to use the allowance for eligible groceries, rent, utilities, pet care supplies and more.*
Using your allowance for OTC products
All members of a plan that includes the CareEssentials Allowance may use it to purchase eligible OTC products.
You can shop online only at the following sites: CarePlus.NationsBenefits.com, CenterwellPharmacy.com, and Walmart.com.
You may use our
OTC products order catalog for mail-order from CenterWell Pharmacy®.
Visit a participating retailer such as Walmart®, CVS®, CenterWell Pharmacy and more. To see a full list of participating retailers visit CarePlus.NationsBenefits.com. Purchases made with the card at a non-participating retailer will result in a denied transaction.
Swipe your card for payment when at a participating retail location. If prompted, select the option for credit transactions. Debit transactions will be declined. Your card does not require a PIN.

Note: Prescription drugs are not covered by this card.
Check if you qualify for more items and services
If you have been diagnosed with qualifying chronic conditions, all built up funds from your OTC allowance are converted to use towards other eligible items and services, like groceries, rent and utilities.
To qualify to use your card towards other items and services, complete a health risk assessment at
CarePlus.NationsBenefits.com to confirm your chronic conditions or view your Evidence of Coverage for all ways that you can qualify.
Note: This qualification does not change the amount of your allowance. It gives you access to more approved items you may choose to purchase with the allowance.

Products may not be available at every location. While shopping at participating retailers, you may pay sales tax on items just as you would normally. Applicable sales tax will be added to the total at checkout according to your state tax regulations. Any fees associated with transactions may be deducted from the available balance. Allowance amounts cannot be combined with other benefit allowances. Limitations and restrictions may apply.
If you use Bill Pay through the Healthy Benefits+ website or by contacting Healthy Benefits+, the service provider may not receive payment for at least three weeks. The documented home address with your health plan must match the service address where you currently reside. CarePlus is not responsible for any fees or loss of service associated with late payments. Service fees may apply. Bill payment is not available for all utility and rental companies. Please check to confirm if your service provider is available.
Do not throw away your card. Please store it in a safe place, like your wallet. CarePlus is not responsible for funds lost due to lost or stolen cards. Benefits listed here are part of a Medicare Advantage plan.
